HalfBarrel Linkshell Rules and Policies

General Linkshell Policies

Leadership:
Leaders: Giacorleone
Lieutenants: Alvinho, Dainslef, Emtrai, Soujirou, Yerless

Every decision will be voted on equally by all leaders, except when Gia's vote counts as 4. Whenever possible, decisions about loot and drops will be made before an event, and will be based on the factors listed below. The Lieutenants will be consulted on some loot decisions and most linkshell issues. No matter how hard we try though, there may come a time when somebody feels slighted, or that something was done unfairly; feel free to talk to any of us about it, but if one leader does not specifically tell you to talk to another, please take that one person's answer as the final word on the subject.

We are always willing to meet with a member if they're having problems or have a grievance they want to discuss. If you feel more comfortable just talking to one person, pick one and talk...but be aware that if the issue is important it will be brought before all leaders (and you may be as well). Just don't keep an issue bottled up, that's how small problems become linkshell-breaking problems.
Lieutenants:
Second-in-command to the leaders are the Lieutenants (LTs, "the boys"). These members have full leadership authority when Giacorleone is not online. They can organize events, assign ra/ex drops, deal with GMs or other linkshells, and enforce rules. When Gia is online she may still ask LTs to run an event or address an issue. LTs will have some say in drops, and will have full disclosure regarding linkshell issues and policies. Please give these members the same respect and attentiveness you would give Gia, and know she will be backing their decisions fully.
General Info:
Linkshell members are not allowed to have/use a pearl from another linkshell that does HNM. Common-freaking-sense.

Don't start shit with other people or linkshells on our public forums, in-game, on IRC, on other forums, etc. This includes the /say and /shout channels. Spamming macros, derisive talk, gloating, griefing, etc. are not the kinds of actions we want people judging our LS by. If you absolutely must put something snarky in your search comment, aim for subtlety and avoid names - when in doubt, just don't do it. When in public, keep it friendly/professional whenever possible.
Linkshell Chat:
If you have a problem with another ls member that doesn't directly invole the ls, take it to tells. If you snipe at someone over ls chat we won't stop them from sniping back at you...hell if it's ugly enough we might join in too. Just remember that anything said over ls chat is fair game.

During events, instructions may be given over ls or pt chat so both should be paid attention to. We don't have any qualms about getting in peoples' faces, so if you're ignoring chat and screwing us up as a result, you WILL hear about it and not in a nice way. The point is this: we like having fun and we like being friends, but this is not a social linkshell. We run it as efficiently as possible and have very little tolerance for general stupidity. If you're looking for a self-esteem boost or a hand-holding linkshell, you're in the wrong damn place.
Applicant/Trial Members:
When we get a new applicant, we will vote whether to give them a trial membership or not. That vote thread is the proper time and place to voice any initial concerns. If an applicant passes the vote, they become a Trial Member. Trial Members are given pearls and expected to participate in linkshell events as if they were a full member. This is their time to show us what they know about their jobs and how they view their role in endgame. It is our time to observe their willingness to help, skill at their job(s), and also how well they get along with us. It is every members' responsibility to observe our Trial Members, as well as discuss and vote on them, so we can shape the future of our linkshell together.

Once a decision is made on an application or trial membership, the application, discussion, and vote threads will be deleted to protect our members' opinions.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS: Do NOT overestimate or misrepresent your playtime in your application. It is to your benefit to be honest. We may accept a good player with lower than average playtimes, but we will look harshly on an average player who is never around when they said they'd be. As a low-man linkshell, we need to be able to rely on members' attendance patterns.

HNMs:
If someone else has a HNM and it goes unclaimed, WE DO NOT CLAIM IT. The only exceptions to this are if whoever has claim is going to wipe (e.g. tanks die, and its just running around killing off the rest), or if that LS has been assholes to us in the past. If that happens, we may claim the NM if it goes unclaimed (with a leaders approval to do so). Never call for help unless instructed to.
Drops:
Linkshell leaders are the only ones who are allowed to assign and give out item drops. In most cases, they will automatically claim lot on an item drop and give it out later after a decision is made. If an EX or RARE/EX item is a possible drop, the decision will be made beforehand. All decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis - nobody is guaranteed a drop. The following are the main factors that are considered when deciding item drops. The below is not a definitive list of reasons, as there are also many other factors that go into deciding drops.
  • Overall contribution - the people who show up day after day, always ready to camp or claim, always on time for events, always on the right job, always prepared, etc, will generally be at the top of the list for drops.
  • Reliability - members we don't suspect will jump ship after they clean out their wishlist will be more likely to receive big items
  • Utility - items will generally be given out in a way that helps the LS as a whole the most: i.e. Avalon Breastplate to PLDs, Nashira Seraweels to RDMs
  • Seniority - very very very small part of our decisions but sometimes factors in
  • Favoritism - what's the point of being a leader if you can't pimp out your BFFs?

These forums have a detailed and fully functional wishlist. Leaders don't need to hear about how much you want an item. Check the box and wait your turn. Bothering leaders about loot is quite possibly the easiest way to get your pearl smashed. If you want an item that badly, take some initiative; go get a ToD, farm up some pop items, research strategies, gather up a group and go try it out. We WILL notice this and reward members accordingly.

There are 4 levels of general membership: Active, WildCard, Inactive, Trial. Only Active members will be considered for large drops or item handouts. WildCard members are those whose schedule does not permit regular play but who still try to contribute; they may still receive drops, just not on the same level as Active members. Inactive members are those who are taking a break from the game, or have just come back from a break. Inactive and Trial members may still receive items, but they must be freelot. WildCard and Inactive status are assigned by leaders based on our assessment of your contribution to the linkshell and can be given or taken away at any time. There isn't a set "guideline" for these categories, but we won't be tossing those titles around carelessly. Neither status is meant as a "punishment", merely a way to ensure those who are dedicated and reliable are rewarded fairly. Trial status may be re-assigned to a full member, and it is intended as punishment. Consider it a probation period, and believe me when I say it means very thin ice ahead.
Forums:
Publicly viewable forums are to be kept drama-free. I will not tolerate any jerks, from this ls or others. Any comments about applicants can be made in their voting thread in the private forums (or to me or the LTs via PM).

It is each member's personal responsibility to keep themselves aware of rules, policies, ToDs, and strategies via the forums. We will not babysit anyone.
Other:
We are not an all-day active kind of linkshell. Most of us have jobs and families and friends outside the game, so our playtime is focused. We operate mostly in "prime time" for PST zone, or 9pm - 2am EST. If you are looking for constant action and thrills, we are not the right choice. If you want to experience and participate in the "normal" endgame activities while still having time to further develop your character and have fun with friends, we may prove to be the right fit.

Having said that, we cannot succeed as a linkshell without the reliable participation of our members, so if you're unwilling to schedule your Nyzul/Salvage/Assault/Merit groups around our events (including NMs), we don't need you. If you're unwilling to participate in ALL of our events, we don't need you. We don't babysit, coddle, build self-esteem, or stroke egos.

For problems with the website, see Giacorleone. All item sale inquiries or issues with a member can be addressed by any leader or LT.

Dynamis

Currency/Relic Upgrades:
Dynamis currency will be lotted by a leader and saved for relic upgrades or stage 5 loans. Our relic upgrade policy is to help members with their final stage (or partial 4th/5th stage, depending on availability of currency). To receive upgrade help from the linkshell a member must be in good standing, have been with us for a few months (at the very least), and at least partially through Stage 4. We aren't mind readers so anyone actively working on a relic should keep us updated on their progress. Do not apply to this linkshell with your Stage 4 relic thinking we'll finish Stage 5 for you. This policy is only for long term members.

As with all things, relic decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis, with no guarantees to anyone. We want to see relics in our linkshell, and we want to reward the members who have made us what we are, but we can only do so much at one time.

Note: For joint runs with LN, currency will be evenly split.
AF2 Lotting:
Lotting AF will rarely be assigned. If your job level is high enough to equip the piece immediately, you can lot without being told. This is mostly an honor system: if you need it and have the job at 75, lot immediately. If ~2 minutes go by and nobody lots, others can begin lotting. General priority is:
  • Active members with the job @75
  • Inactive/Trial members with the job@75, Active members with 65+
  • All other situations
We won't police this unless someone does something stupid; be courteous, need before greed, etc.

In Xarcabard runs, RDM BLM THF and PLD will be assigned lot but all others are freelot by the above system. This is true for both solo runs and joint runs with LN. CoP accessories will always be assigned, unless leaders call freelot.

Schedule:
We currently run Dynamis on Tuesday and Friday nights beginning around 10pm EST. Tuesday nights are always a joint run with LN, alternating between Xarcabard (Dynamis Lord/fragments) and CoP zones: Xarcabard -> Buburimu -> Xarcabard -> Valkurm -> Xarcabard -> Qufim. We always have a glass mule so latecomers are welcome. During these runs, LN leaders are to be obeyed the same as HB leaders. For the most part, our alliances will be formed separately but we may combine them or swap members as needed.
Items Lotting:
All items other than currency and AF will be allowed to auto-sort unless someone needs them for crafting. Please ask a leader before lotting however, so there are no surprises!

If the items' market value is high (wootz ores), they will be allowed to auto-lot out. If a member gets one of these items, they will be expected to pass all the rest for the remainder of that run. Spread the wealth! (we will always announce this before a run where high$$ drops are possible)
EXP Scrolls:
EXP scrolls will be allowed to auto-sort out. DPs (death pullers) may lot scrolls to offset exp loss.
Attendance:
Dynamis runs are MANDATORY for all members with clearance. Unacceptable absence patterns - logging out shortly before and logging back in at the end of the run or after, skipping zones where no AF is needed, AFKing unannounced for the majority of the run - will be dealt with harshly. Dynamis farming attendance is also used when considering relic upgrades.

Other Events

Einherjar:
We run Einherjar on Monday/Thursday nights with LateNite. Members are expected to be gathered in Hazhalm no later than 10:15pm EST. Since we only have 16 spots available, attendance will be on a first come/first serve basis. If you KNOW you won't be able to make all the runs in an Odin cycle, you should offer to sit out if needed. An Odin cycle is 3 Tier runs and an Odin's Chamber - 2 weeks, unless we somehow fail a Tier. Job setups will always be the same for the Tier runs but will differ slightly for Odin.

It is each member's responsibility to know which job they are supposed to be on and have everything they need for that job. All melees should have poison pots, eye drops, TP wing, zerging gear (if applicable), and food. Mages should carry echo drops and poison pots at the very least. For Tier runs, most melees should sub NIN for damage mitigation. If you're unsure about this, ask someone.

Armory Crate items for the Tiers will be freelot. Abjurations and Odin gear will be assigned by a leader. While we're in Einherjar, LN leaders have as much authority as HB leaders. Give them your attention and do what they ask without question.

Limbus:
Limbus is run on an honor system. ABCs are lotted by one person and dispensed equally at the end of the run, with any overflow being determined by the coin holder (usually by /random). AF upgrade items are freelot as needed. Just be courteous and use common sense. Chips will be lotted by a leader.

Limbus is too easy to screw up unless people aren't paying attention. Unless you are asked to pull, stay with the group. When there are multiple enemies or directions to choose from, follow the tank as a general rule. Stick together, use your brain. Ultima/Omega gear is assigned lot.
